The Eternity, HTC's next Windows Phone 7 device, will have a 4.7-inch screen [Photo]

By | June 30, 2011, 12:11pm PDT

Summary: Just when you thought that smartphone screens could not get any bigger, they do. Leaked images of HTC’s next Windows Phone 7 phone show a device with a 4.7-inch screen. But will its battery be up to snuff?

Looks like the Infuse may soon get its screen size crown snatched. HTC Inside somehow got a hold of some images of what appears to be HTC’s next Windows 7 Phone megaphone — the appropriately-named Eternity.

The phone’s biggest pull so far is clearly its 4.7-inch screen, which tops even the 4.5-inch one on the Infuse. If the rumors are true, the Eternity will run on a 1.5GHz processor and come equipped with a 8-megapixel camera. On the device’s front is a 1.3-inch camera, the existence of which should give you something of an idea of when the Eternity will hit stores. Considering that support for front-facing cameras will come with Mango, it is safe to assume that the Eternity will arrive sometime this fall.

Another safe assumption is this: The Eternity’s battery life won’t be all that great. With a 4.7-inch screen and a 1650mAh battery, the Eternity’s title certainly won’t apply to how long the thing lives on a single charge. Then again, that shouldn’t come as much of a surprise anymore.

MARKETING, MARKETING, MARKETING

Now, if only M$ can get its marketing act together. Specifically, they have to figure out a way to get Verizon to put WP on near or equal footing with its DRIOD phones, especially with functioning phones in-store. More pressure on AT&T and Sprint wouldn't hurt either. Until this happens, WP will continue to be an also ran.

Seemed to be moving them last night. Just went to visit the new one in Houston, pretty cool. They need more stuff like that. If only my VZW contract were up... I may go early this year if Mango is good.
