TomTom has announced that its new VIA series of GPS navigation devices is ready for shipping in North America starting today. No joke.

The collection consists of four devices, each coming with TomTom’s latest software, bright touch screen, and a fold-and-go EasyPort mounting system. There are two display size options: the 4.3-inch 1405 and 1435 followed by the 5-inch 1505 and 1535 (pictured above).

However, the 1435 and 1535 are the higher-end models with premium features such as Bluetooth (hands-free) calling and intuitive voice control. They also sport a fancier design with contemporary brushed-aluminum finish. (The basic 1405 and 1505 stick with the classic all-black finish.)

The TomTom VIA series is available now, and pricing starts at $169.

Perhaps Apple should buy TomTom
guihombre 1st Apr 2011
Yeh, perhaps the other commenter was right, perhaps Apple and Tomtom would be a good match.

Look at Carminet, their car computer integration, a lot of crossover with Apple Ipod car integration.

Apple wants excellent stand alone navigation, TomTom have excellent stand along navigation...

Yeh I can sort of see it, never going to happen, but probably should.
