Toshiba has unveiled the Qosmio T851, a glasses-free 3D notebook. That’s all well and nice, but what’s really interesting is that this is being touted as the “world’s first” laptop that can simultaneously display 2D and 3D content.
Utilizing this feature sounds quite easy, at least on paper. Users can simply open 2D content in one window and 3D in another on the 15.6-inch Clear Super View LED HD panel. This is made simple thanks to the glasses-free technology in which separate images are delivered to each eye. It is also complimented by face detection and tracking using the computer’s webcam, which recognizes the position of the user’s eyes.
(It will be curious to see if transferring between viewing 2D and 3D content on a screen would have any effect on vision…or at least make the viewer dizzy or not.)
Toshiba doesn’t slack off when it comes to the other specs on the Qosmio T851. Running on an Intel Core i5-2410M processor, it has NVIDIA GeForce GT 540M graphics, a 750GB hard drive and a Blu-ray disc player.
Pricing hasn’t revealed yet (we can only imagine a high number for now), but the Qosmio T851 will be launched in Japan first this July.
