Verizon predicted to announced Samsung Galaxy Tab this Thursday

By | September 14, 2010, 12:38pm PDT

Summary: If the reports and leaked screenshot are valid, then we should be seeing Verizon give an official announcement about the awaited Samsung Galaxy Tab.

If the reports and leaked screenshot are valid, then we should be seeing Verizon Wireless give an official announcement about the awaited Samsung Galaxy Tab.

The 7-inch handheld tablet was officially debuted earlier this month with the announcement that it would be headed to Vodafone in the United Kingdom, but nothing more about carriers elsewhere.

But according to the leaked screenshot above first posted by Engadget, it looks like the Galaxy Tab will be introduced on Verizon in the United States. This could potentially set up a battle royale between Samsung’s tablet entry and the iPad over on AT&T, depending on pricing and availability - neither of which won’t be announced for awhile. (Unless the Galaxy Tab really does go to more than one carrier, similar to the Galaxy S smartphone series.)

Either way, things seem to be really brewing about the Galaxy Tab, so we should be seeing something concrete real soon.

@markpescatrice Yes it has WiFi, but I think he means you can't buy it without a carrier contract if the report are true. Which Samsung has seems to confirm. Carriers love this because you will need a second data plan from them just to get the device. But according to Samsung this is a requirement of the Android license so blame Google. This will definitely take some of the shine off of the Tab. I would get an iPad - WiFi first!

Complete with the V-Cast App Store?

Given Google's insistance that Android 2.2 is neither ready nor designed for the tablet form factor and such devices will be excluded from the market place, this might be the genesis of the V-Cast App Store.

The weak spot of the Tab, however, is lack of a WiFi version. Given that the #1 selling iPad does not come with any Cellular access abilities...
@Bruizer
FYI...the Tab has WiFi....check out the specs.

And there is not one with WiFi and no 3G radio.
