If you still want the Motorola Droid R2-D2 special edition smartphone, here's your chance. Verizon Wireless has slashed the pricing to under $100.

That's $99.99 in fact (down from an initial $249.99), with the signing of a two-year service agreement and after a $50 online discount.

Verizon could be trying to clear the stock at this point as it did launch back in late September, and all the hype over this smartphone has surely died down. The wireless provider could also try pushing these again come this September when the entire Star Wars saga is released on Blu-ray. Who doesn't love some more cross-promotion?
