File this one under “useful information for your next gamification pitch meeting.” Advertising agency M.J. Brunner Inc. has focused some attention and resources on gamification through its offshoot project BHiveLab, which is described as “an idea incubator focused on inventing new ways to engage people on-the-go.”

The most interesting thing we’ve seen on the BHiveLab website so far is a clever slideshow titled “How to Explain Gamification to your Boss.” There’s a lot of corporate marketing speak about customer retention, website engagement, and strategic planning, but also some pretty straightforward explanations, such as, “Game mechanics satisfy human desires.”

You can view the entire presentation at slideshare.net, and here are a few of the more interesting slides below. http://www.bhivelab.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/06/explained1.png

  • Explain Gamification to the boss? That's easy.

Gamification: the act of replacing high-quality productive professional software with game-inspired toy-like junkware which can be produced on-the-cheap and sold to clueless customers using fly-by-night tactics... and then discarded when the next 'social' buzzword fad arrives.

    There ya go!
