RAD AJAX gets a boost from latest InterSystems release
Cache has done quite well in the medical and government areas, but clearly these RAD and mapping features make it worth a look for instances where data-driven applications require rich UIs and fast time to value. As the majority of SOA services are data services, Cache may also be well-positioned for a data services delivery optimization role.
Some interesting new products emerging next week from InterSystems. The latest InterSystems database, Cache 2007, provides a shared objects benefit for server and client that balances the chattiness of AJAX apps with performance demands on the server. Called Zen, the AJAX framework allows composite Web applications to more easily combine the strengths of fast data access with rich internet applications (RIAs).
On a separate front, InterSystems' Jalapeno helps Java-centric developers attain RAD by significantly reducing the object-relational mapping demands, providing a fast-path to database-centric applications. Both of these products show a development benefit by leveraging object-based technology for Java and RIA developers
