Google Buzz: Is Google too late to the game?

By | February 9, 2010, 11:00pm PST

Google Buzz is the newest Google product that exists. It can easily be summed up by saying it’s the same as Twitter — but integrated with your Gmail inbox, and a couple extra built-in features that you can see in this video.

The question isn’t whether Google’s feature is good or not, but rather if it’s going to take off quickly? Twitter has become pretty much the status quo as far as real-time updates go. Even if it’s connected to Gmail and is pre-populated with your friends out of the box, it’s not going to be easy for Google to compete with Twitter.

Google had purchased a company called Jaiku a long time ago, but failed to make anything of it. It had the potential to be a formidable competitor to Twitter, but instead, it was left to die. This is Google’s attempt to get into the game, but I fear it may be a tad bit late.

Twitter is great for networking and companies
that want to get information out. I think Google
Buzz will be hugh with folks who want to limit
the contacts to there group of friends and
relatives. I am retired and had no use for
Twitter after a week.

Saying Google Buzz is like Twitter, but
integrated with Gmail and with a few new
features... is like saying Facebook is like
Twitter, but with integrated email and with a
few extra features... or Twitter is like
Facebook, but missing a ton of features.

People like Twitter because of its simplicity.

People like Facebook because MySpace started
feeling like Geocities... a bunch of difficult
to look at pages which look like they were
designed by 12-year-olds.

People who use chat within Gmail will probably
also enjoy Google Buzz and will simply use it.
It won't replace Twitter. It won't replace
Facebook. It will simply coexist and may draw
even more users to Gmail.

Google has lots of products and program that lands unto nothing at the end of the day. They just create some buzz and fizzle off pretty soon...

Google has just revealed their new product, Google Buzz. Finally they are social now!! The product is a package that is layered in Gmail with the integration of other social networking services like Twitter. All the features of other social services are structured into this.

Is Buzz ? Google?s new Twitter and Facebook-like social stream ? the product that?s going to win Google a dominant ? or at least prominent ? place in the social web?

I think It is difficult for Google Buzz to compete with Facebook.

You're a geek. Geeks aren't social.

P.S. I also have a major lack of excitement about this whole Buzz thing.
Guess that says something about my geekness too, eh? happy

I think Google Buzz will take twitter out of the market. I used twitter maybe a couple of times before. I did not like the fact that I had to build everything from scratch as far as followers, etc...

Since its launch today, I already made 5 postings on Google Buzz and they were all from my WORK. The amazing thing about it is that I already have all my contacts and Friends in Google so I don't have to rebuild anything. Google even suggests people to add to your follow list based on your email communication with them. Call me lazy or whatever but I really like its ease of use
