Google launches AT&T / Rogers compatible Nexus One

By | March 16, 2010, 3:08pm PDT

One of the contributing factors of the buzz-kill around the Nexus One was the phone’s lack of support for AT&T and Rogers in Canada. These carriers use a different frequency for 3G, which makes using the Nexus One on those carriers simply revert back to Edge data.

Today, Google announced a new Nexus One that works on both AT&T in the United States and Rogers in Canada. It’s going to be interesting to see if it’s too late or not. The hype around the Google Nexus One has diminished a bit since it’s initial launch, however, it’s still an awesome device with lots of horsepower and pleasing aesthetics.

In other related news, Google also announced paid apps in Canada — this is big news as well. Before now, you only had access to free applications in Canada, that means a lot of lower quality apps. Now we just have to allow developers in Canada to charge for their apps.
