Google Prediction API: The web gets smart

By | May 19, 2010, 9:35pm PDT

Day one of the Google I/O conference was just the beginning — lots of cool stuff was announced today, but tomorrow is when the big stuff happens.

Today, there were several announcements made that generated some buzz, but there was not even a peep about Froyo, or Smart TV (look for this stuff tomorrow at 8:30AM PDT). Today things centered around the web — but I thought Google’s Prediction API was one of the coolest.

Google’s Prediction API is a new service that lets developers make there applications truly intelligent. The service can do anything from tell you what language a certain string is, to having it monitor transactions for things that may be fraudulent. It’s basically a big black box that you can send historic data into, and then ask it questions about the future.

Looking forward to day two though! See you tomorrow.
