Tis the season for all the cool stuff to start hitting shelves -- one of the big ticket items this year is Google TV. Sony has been working with Google to get their Google TV technology baked directly into new flat panel televisions, and they are about to be unveiled.

Sony will be holding a press conference on October 12 in New York to reveal the new televisions -- just in time for the holidays. Surely it won't be long until Logitech's Google TV device will be for sale as well.

I own an Apple TV right now, and is great, but I am excited to try out a Google TV device. Certainly "the real internet" on your TV will be nothing but awesome. What do you think?

  • Sir, I feel I must point out

that you do tend to over exaggerate that which is associated with Google.

You seem to take mediocre products from this corporation and attempt to elevate their importance to that of something on the level of the discovery of warp drive by your people.

Should you not leave such subjects to those who will give an unbiased, and more honest evaluation of the product?

Statistics show that once released, the probability of you giving it a glowing and outstanding review are close to 100 percent, even if the vast majority of people do not.

    • Because many have a huge HDTV

in their living room and there are tons of video content available on line. I've had a computer hooked to my HDTV for about 5 years now. I don't have cable nor satellite because I find more interesting and free stuff to watch online.

An I Pad like device would work quite nicely with the Google TV rather than the keyboard and mouse.

Perhaps you would do well to look up the term "big ticket item" since you appear to have no idea what it means.

It would be great if Sony would develop a google tv device to utilize the DMeX port I have on all my TVs!

I have a Samsung 3d TV that has an internet button on the remote. I have Netflix, Hulu , Voodo, youtube, and like 20 other apps. Greatest thing ever.

the integration of the TV and the Computer web based video content is going to increase because the price of cable TV is going up and people are looking for cheaper sources of video entertainment content

All I can say is that I got my Google TV and I am happy. I had the chance to use this at my work DISH Network and I thought this product is really cool. I think the search features and the voice control remote is fabulous. This thing has some great preloaded apps on it. I like the Amazon VOD and the Netflix on it as well. This thing integrated with the DISH set top box has great results. You can search things as well as on the web and weather you want to record them or not.
