Google has stealth-launched WDYL.com, short for What do you love? Basically, you answer the titular question, and it pops up with results from what appears to be every single Google product, from Google Maps to Google Products to Google SketchUp.
Put in a single search term, like “Google” for example, and the fairly slick UI goes to work, presenting data in discrete little boxes. As TechCrunch, which discovered WDYL.com, noted in their initial impressions, it works better for broad terms like “love.”
Things to make sure you note while you’re playing with WDYL.com include the fact that the search box is a little heart, and that some of the boxes (Gmail, Google Mobile, Google Voice) don’t actually change very much no matter what you put in.
Unless Google has something unexpected planned for WDYL.com, my guess is that TechCrunch accidentally stumbled onto Google’s next major marketing push rather than an actual functional product or proof-of-concept.
I wouldn’t be surprised if we started seeing “What do you love?” as the slogan behind Google television commercials and magazine ads within the next few weeks.
