Minnesota has its first CIO, Gopal Khanna, a former CIO and CFO for the US Peace Corps, Gov. Tim Pawlenty announced recently. Khanna takes office Aug. 15.
As CIO, Khanna's job is to lead the newly created Office of Enterprise Technology, which will serve 66 agencies, 1,000 networks and 500 websites. He will serve as a Cabinet-level officer and report directly to the governor. OET's budget is $83 mln.
"The vision Governor Pawlenty has set before me is to improve government service through cost effective use of technology," Khanna said.
