From relic to high tech: it's location, location, location

What's considered out-dated and useless? And then it's also found to be valuable and an improvement in technology?

What's considered out-dated and useless? And then it's also found to be valuable and an improvement in technology? Why, the same coal-powered electricity generating plant. The useless label applied in the U.S. The better tech label applied in Guatemala. To the very same plant, after it had been sold, dismantled and then reassembled.

The U.S. is the world's leading exporter or used, if not useless, technology from old school buses to generating plants.

The "Boston Globe" quotes one official in Boston saying, "It's troubling that we'd be handing down the remnants of our industrial-era technology rather than helping these places with cleaner options."

Nuclear or solar for Guatemala? Hah, let 'em burn coal. Besides, they gotta buy that coal fromthe U.S., right? The American exporters see green, dollar-green.

Meanwhile, China, Guatemala and all the rest of us have a single, shared atmosphere to hold all that CO2.
