Green Grid tech committee updates data center efficiency info

Want a recipe for a more efficient data center? Well, if you’re a member of Green Grid, the consortium is releasing several white papers from its technical committee that outline certain configurations that could helpl and provide guidelines/benchmarks for efficiency metrics.

The three papers are: - Qualitative Analysis of Power Distribution Configurations for Data Centers: This document includes information about seven configuration options for power distribution. - Existing Data Center Energy Efficiency Metrics: A compilation of existing metrics being used to gauge data center performance. - A new version of the Data Center Efficiency Metrics White Paper: This is an update of a document released in February 2007, which outlines Green Grid’s positions on Power Usage Effectiveness and Datacenter Efficiency.

Speaking of which, The Green Grid organization actually has 102 members now. I actually don’t know who a bunch of these companies are, so I’ll be sussing them out for future green tech blog possibilities. Finally, the Green Grid also has announced a “memorandum of understanding” (lawyer-speak for the fact that they will work together) with the Information Technology Industry Council, which does a lot of work in Washington on behalf of the tech industry. Let the green tech lobbying begin apace.
