My friends over at One Block Off the Grid (1BOG) have launched a solar group purchase program that has organized a 15 percent discount for Pittsburgh area homeowners that are interested in installing solar technology. The effort, which runs until Nov. 24, 2010, is being supported locally by Astrum Solar. Astrum handles small commercial and residential solar installations in Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Virginia and Washington, D.C. The company offers a solar pricing calculator on its web site that figures your typical cost for a systems based on the rebates and incentives specific to your state. 1BOG now actively supports solar purchasing programs in 17 U.S. markets.

In a past corporate life, Heather was editor of Computer Reseller News, where she was a featured speaker about everything from software as a service to IT security to mobile computing.
Heather started her journalism life as a business writer with United Press International in New York. She holds a B.A. in English literature from McGill University in Montreal, Quebec, and has a thing for Lewis Carroll.
