A little more than six months ago, I wrote about a data center efficiency project that Hewlett-Packard was undertaking in Wynyard, United Kingdom, through a retrofit of an overhauled distribution center. Well, that green data center facility has officially opened. The company is sticking to its claim that it is about 40 percent more efficient than a comparable facility.

The big feature of this site, as the headline suggestions, is the role that wind is playing in cooling the building and what's inside. The rest of the best practices that HP is using are detailed in this post over on our Smart Planet sister blog network.
