That's the hope of Europe's biggest wind power company. Iberdrola is going to sell off a fraction of its wind generation business, and hopes to raise as much as four billion Euros. Right now each Euro is worth nearly 1.38 of the pokey American dollars. So four billion Euros would be well over five billion U$.

Next month the Spanish-based company will make its public offering of its wind division, Iberenova. They have some presence in the U.S. Most notably they operate the new wind farm, Locust Ridge in Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania. Iberdrola is the largest wind power company in Europe.

Another European based company is reportedly looking to sell its American operations. Airtricity is based in Ireland, noted for its cold arctic winds. That firm currently has two operating wind farms in Texas, at Sand Bluff and Forest Creek in west Texas. It has approval to build a wind farm in upstate New York, at Munnsville.

Airtricity is also working on plans for huge ocean-going wind farms between Britain and Germany in the North Sea. Right now most wind farms are on land. And that is expected to only slowly shift toward wind farms at sea.

The biggest wind power company baeed in the U.S. is FPL (Florida Power & Lght). They have four dozen wind farms in seventeen states. That picture shows some of FPL's operating windmills shown on their website.
