Nuclear energy is still cheaper and cleaner overall.
Seems there are more than just environmental issues with building new nuclear plants. There are questions about the ability to protect them from terrorist attacks. For the record, there’s been no known terrorist incident at any nuclear plant anywhere in the world…so far. Events at Three Mile Island and Chernobyl, for example, seemed to have come about in the normal course of human events. But in an era, such as this one, when fear is political capital for all sides of an issue, it is fear of terrorism that may be a major hurdle for the nuclear industry.
