BlackBerry mobile smartphones are meant to make life easier, while making you more mobile and with the right applications, it will do just that for the business professional. Here’s five apps that we really like.

Business is all about organization and with that being the case, Widality, Inc. is prepared to back even the busiest business professional.  With their free BlackBerry application, Call Time Tracker- a spinoff of their successful Momentem call tagging service- professionals are free to talk for hours, interrupted only briefly, between calls, by this application, which pops up and asks the user to designate client and project related calls.  It will even assist with emails sent from the mobile phone; tracking time spent writing to clients.  With the monthly report generated and sent via email, a user’s productivity and organization are sure to improve tenfold.

In the business of “I need it now,” or at the very least, “I need to know when it will be here,” the UPS Mobile Application is sure to be a hit.  Track a shipment, give accurate estimates of shipping costs and shipping times, even create the label, and do it all while on the go.    This tool, developed by UPS and made available to all BlackBerry users, just may help make the sale.

Need to take the file on the road?  Want to print the email from your BlackBerry?  No problem.  The minds at Chocolate Chunk Apps knew that it should- and could- happen with nothing more than a shared WiFi network.  Now, thanks to the WiFi File Transfer App, a business professional can instantly send files from BlackBerry to computer, computer to BlackBerry, or BlackBerry to printer.  So, print the emailed directions while running out the door, bring an unfinished document or list of phone numbers, even fill in and print a contract over WiFi network at the client’s office or home.  Don’t forget to log those miles travelled between office and client, though.  Better yet, use you BlackBerry to do that too.

Exgis Mileage Tracker by Exgis Inc. is the perfect application for doing just that.  Don’t just jot down the miles driven.  Now you can record start and end points, assign mileage to specific accounts, and export to a spreadsheet that is easily emailed to your office to be backed-up, printed, or used in conjunction with other organizational tools.

Save time and frustration when you receive your next email, call, or message.  Rather than trying to copy down contact information, appointment times, and other important info from those sources, let the Copy2Contact application by Anagram Technologies take care of that for you.  There is no need to pause on your way to an important meeting so you can quickly jot down a name a number from email.  This application takes all of the information and transforms it into a new- or updates an existing- contact.  If an appointment time and place are discussed, the application will even transfer that information to your BlackBerry calendar.  Organization has

To add to Adam's comment - make sure that you get Contacts Cleaner app made by Beaver Creek Consulting. This is the original and is even written about in Brilliant Blackberry Apps by Corey Sandler. This is the app that sells for $2.99.

As the President of Widality, the company mentioned at the top of the article, thanks to Dave and ZDNet for choosing us! Our Momentem service goes from strength to strength, especially in this economic climate where every penny counts and every minute matters. If you are heading to RIM's WES event in April, see you there. Terry
This is a great list. I downloaded Contacts Cleaner in order to merge the duplicates in my address book. It works and has already saved me a lot of time during my day in scrolling through trying to find that right phone number.
