Benchmarks? That would be interesting...

No way will it be AM2, probably not AM3 and maybe not even compatible with socket S1 (g4) that V series CPUs for laptops use now.

After seeing the G34 socket for the Magny-Cours Opterons, I'm convinced we are going to see a new socket for Bulldozer too. I suspect that these new low TDP processors will also have a new socket.

Guessing here (against my hope) ITX or mini-ATX motherboards with these new CPUs surface mounted is probably what system builders will see becoming available, similar to what we see now with Atom and VIA C-series CPUs and what we saw with AMD's Geodes. But most of these CPUs are going to end up inside of small notebooks, netbooks, tablets and perhaps even smaller devices. I'm not holding my breath for anything backwards compatible.
I'd like to have that in my server, but it looks like it won't be AM2.

Hmm... Maybe I'll need to get an mini-iTX motherboard that will go with that CPU, but then I won't have both my secondary NIC and my TV Tuner for MythTV in one very small server. I have the mATX motherboard as of 2007.
