Apple reveals 25 billionth app download winner

Summary: The lucky winner of the $10,000 gift card downloaded a free app.

Apple has announced the name of the person who downloaded the 25 billionth app from the iTunes App Store.

The winner has been named as Chunli Fu of Qingdao, China, who wins a $10,000 iTunes gift card for downloading a free version of the 'Where's My Water?' app.

"We’d like to thank our customers and developers for helping us achieve this historic milestone of 25 billion apps downloaded," said Eddy Cue, Apple’s senior vice president of Internet Software and Services. "When we launched the App Store less than four years ago, we never imagined that mobile apps would become the phenomenon they have, or that developers would create such an incredible selection of apps for iOS users."

App Store downloads crossed the 1 billion mark back in April of 2009, and then broke through the 10 billion mark in January of 2011.

If you were hoping to win the massive gift card; well, bad luck!
