AT&T celebrates more than 1 million iPhone 4S activations

By | October 20, 2011, 6:43am PDT

Summary: The most successful iPhone launch in the company’s history.

It’s been a busy few days for the mobile giant AT&T, with the company activating more than 1 million iPhone 4S handsets by Tuesday.

This makes it the most successful iPhone launch in the company’s history, which considering that up until recently AT&T was an exclusive carrier for the iPhone in the US is saying something.

“It’s no surprise that customers are clamoring for iPhone 4S and they want it to run on a network that lets them download twice as fast as competitors’,” said Ralph de la Vega, President and CEO, AT&T Mobility & Consumer Markets.

Earlier this week Apple announced that it had sold a total of 4 million iPhone 4S handsets over the launch weekend and that 25 million devices had been upgraded to iOS 5.

i feel at & t has made their benchmark and created a very big example for people who are not using at & t.
in that ad. Based on past experience here I'm certain the quality of commentary will be top notch and filled with nothing but grace and charm:)

Celebrating 1 million activations because the overall usage of smart phones went up. Lets compare the ratios of now to then. Doesn't seem like anything to celebrate.
@LoverockDavidson_
not only because of people buying more smartphones, but people heading and switching to at &t and specifically buying the iphone 4s which according to me is amazing.
That video is horrible. Way to make your customers look uninformed AT&T!
And yet they still can't ship my 'pre-order!' There are MANY people who pre-ordered their iPhone 4S' through AT&T who STILL don't have them. Not even a tracking number! Imagine how much more activations they would have had if they actually shipped them?
