Adrian Kingsley-Hughes

Happy Birthday iPod!

By | October 23, 2011, 6:00am PDT

Summary: Ten years old today!

My, how you’ve changed!

From this, back in October of 2001 when you had that daft FireWire connector:

To this:

For the record, I’ve owned a second-generation iPod nano, a second-, third-, and fourth-generation iPod shuffle, and a first-generation iPod touch. Before owning my first iPod, I owned a lot of junk MP3 players. I remember a Creative ZEN Nano that ate a AAA battery every 18 hours.

Hey, iPod … do me a favor, kick your older brother’s butt into line will you. While you’ve grown up to be nice and respectable, iTunes has turned absolutely feral!

Here is my 2 cents on the future of iPods. Touch versions will be the main stay iPods. iPod sales will shrink and saturate to a small number except during holiday season. The drop in iPod sales will be more than compensated by the iPod that can talk just like now happy Check the comparison of iPod and iPhone sales number together here

Thanks Adrian for the acknowledgement of the iPod???s birthday. It seems like only yesterday, but then for Doc yesterday seems like ten years ago. I still love my iPod and use it all the time. Sad to hear it may be discontinued, but a sign of the times, for sure.
