Invitation-only Windows 7 beta testers to get free copy of Ultimate

By | July 30, 2009, 10:53am PDT

Summary: I’ve been hearing from a lot of Windows 7 beta testers as to how they are feeling unappreciated. Some feel they didn’t get their hands on enough code to play with, while others feel that beta testers should get a complimentary copy of Windows 7 for their efforts.

I’ve been hearing from a lot of Windows 7 beta testers as to how they are feeling unappreciated. Some feel they didn’t get their hands on enough code to play with, while others feel that beta testers should get a complimentary copy of Windows 7 for their efforts.

Well, if you are in the latter category, Microsoft has good news for you - All beta testers invited into the Windows 7 beta program will be offered a free copy of Windows 7 Ultimate.

Last week, I blogged that members of the Windows Technical Beta Program would not be receiving a complimentary copy of Windows 7. Normally I hate to be wrong but in this case, I’m stoked that I am.

To show our appreciation, members of the invitation-only Windows 7 Technical Beta Program will be eligible for a free, final copy of Windows 7 Ultimate. For more information on how to take advantage of this, refer to Paul’s post in the .Beta_Program newsgroup for details.

Tell Paul that Brandon sent you - and be sure to thank him!

Pretty cool.

How can I verify that if I no longer have the email. I get emails from Microsoft all the time about new beta's and microsoft news in general. Damn, now I wish I kept all those emails. Does anyone know if there is a way to verify who was invited or not?

How about Office 2010?
dennyc5@... 1st Aug 2009
I was "invited" to test Office 2010 and I am a Microsoft Partner. I hope they do the same thing for Office 2010 testers. I still think though, that anyone that took the time and trouble to download Windows 7 and then send in their findings etc., should get some kind of free copy or major discount coupon or something for their trouble. Those that downloaded it and then didn't send in any opinions or problems or complaints maybe not but the real beta testers should get something!
