Some of the first iPhone unboxing shots have hit the net.  Here's the first I've found on Flickr - ajmiarka's photos.

First impressions - Pretty smartly packaged bit of kit, although I was expecting it to be packaged more like the iPod.

... but is it me or is the mains adaptor a massive affair?  Surely it's not as big as the one that comes with the MacBook?

Thoughts?

  • It's you.

While it's hard to determine something's size from a picture without a frame of
reference, in this case, there is one.

Since we know that the phone fits in the box (we can see that in the pictures), and
we can see the indentation in the plastic where the phone fits, and we know that
the phone is 2.4" wide, it looks at though the adaptor is about 1.5" - 1.75" square,
or about 30% smaller than my RAZR power adaptor.

Also, if we really wanted to figure out the size, we'd look at the upper right of the
adaptor, which contains the plug. Assuming this is the same part used in all of
Apple's mains adaptors, we know that that piece is about 1" X 3/4", again leading
one to believe that this adaptor is about 1.5" - 1.75" square.

Or, we could just just make ourselves look like idiots, and say "gee, it looks really
    big in the picture."
