If you're looking for the ultimate in graphics cards, and have a $1,000 to spend, here's just the card for you!

It's the XFX Radeon HD 5970 Black Edition, a card that's special because it comes kitted out with several really cool extras.

First, it features two Radeon HD 5870 GPUs on one board, each GPU racing along at a breathtaking 850MHz.

That along is impressive. But wait, there's more!

Backing up the two GPUs is 4GB of GDDR5, clocked at a speed of 4,800MHz.

Oh, and then there's Eyefinity 6 support thanks to the six (yes, that's right, count em, six) DisplayPort connectors on the back of the card.

Note: The cooler shown in the shot is pre-production, the final cooler is expected to be a heftier bit of kit to deal with all that heat!

You're going to need your own personal mini-power station of a Power Supply Unit too run this card given that it gets its juice from a pair of 8-pin PCI-e connectors.

This card is expected to retail for around $1,000, and as the name suggests, it's a limited edition piece, with a run of between 1,000 and 1,500.

And if that's not enough, you could always fit two of these puppies in your systems ...

  • Wow

I have an Antec gaming case, and I don't think even that would fit in it!

Crikey. What kind of wattage are you gonna need in that tower? If you're already at 750 or 1000 watts to power everything else, what does this thing need, an external power brick like a laptop?

You'll need a small thermo-nuclear reactor next to your tower to provide sufficient power for this screamer!

  • Six in One

I am just grateful that They are moving the concept of this card to a general application and hopefully mass production....I have been waiting for months since the initial articles came out.

Unfortunately a grand is a lot more than I can afford, so I will wait for the Mass Production model.

Thumbs up to the folks at ATI:
With this card, they have just made Multi-Massive-Monitor-Arrays easy and affordable, and in HD

  • Too Much Futureproofing?

I don't understand, the original ATI Radeon HD 5970
destroyed Crysis at even the biggest resolutions.

What does anyone plan to accomplish with the most
powerful card on the planet that can play two Crysis
    games at the same time?
