Summary: Infinity Ward has the Banhammer ready, so no cheating!

Thinking about giving your XP a little boost in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 by cheating? Think again!

According to Infinity Ward’s Creative Strategist, Robert Bowling, over 1,600 bans have been issued so far:

Any attempt to cheat, hack, or glitch in #MW3 will not be tolerated. 1600+ bans issued. Updates in works. Please cont. to report offenders.

Bowling went on to explain how gamers can report cheaters:

Theres a button in game after a match. Click on them in the lobby and it gives option to “View Gamercard” + “Report Player”

Think that Infinity Ward isn’t watching your every move when playing? Wrong!

stats are always recorded, we can verify and detect cheating without video proof.

How long a gamer is banned depends on what they did:

Every ban unique to the level of douchiness of the offense. The greater the douche the greater the length.

It's not cheating if there isn't a law against it

HM, you know by the level of ridiculousness that was MW2, I never would have known IW cared at all about cheaters.

.. in '02-'07 on the MOH Spearhead scene, it was always simpler to just auto-kick .. but, granted, it becomes annoying re-kicking a pesty player 100 times a night. That's when getting really serious and imposing IP bans from the server console work better.

I still can't fathom the loser mentality of being a cheater online ... where's the sense of achievement in that?!? sad

Seems low-lives never learn. This measure is needed as it's the only way to keep the gaming scene credible and viable.
@thx-1138_@...

Cheaters come from bored kids. They have nothing better to do, so why not go troll some gamers. It's annoying, but what IW did to MW2 made it impossible to ban anyone from the games, let alone report them, which led to much frustration, and me giving up the MW franchise.

Not like MW was meant for PC gamers anyway.

... everyone playing MW is a child that just happens to be 'learning the game'? I'm glad you're feeling so omnipotent ... what other "wonders" can you perform .. besides being an all seeing eye? I was actually referring to the knowledgeable, recidivist adults that've been up to it for years.

At any rate, since when weren't people allowed to have an opposing opinion to you?!?

Listen, I stand by what i said, learn to live with it, scooter. So, go troll a PC gaming forum if you disagree. And, frankly, I couldn't give a rat's @ss why you give up on a game franchise, by the way.

Next.

With all due respect, in SINGLE PLAYER games, it's not always about being a 'loser' but someone who is having a hell of a time getting past a certain part in a game that was made in a 'broken' way.

In multi-player games? Personally, I would rather that they set up a 'cheater's den' akin to what some online games used to do where cheating was allowed.
@thx-1138_@... I still can't fathom the loser mentality of being a troll on ZDNet, but they exist too... I wish ZDNet had a banhammer. sad

.. i'm sure they'll let you go without any fuss. And don't be so hard on yourself.

Hold it ... I hear your mother calling, junior ... now run along.

Any Due Process?
ldo17 Updated - 24th Nov
What kind of process is followed once an accusation of "cheating" is made? What evidence is or is not considered acceptable? Are the proceedings public? Is there any appeal process?

In short, is there anything more than the whim of the game owners involved?

They haven't ever detected my cheats. Not on MW2, Not on Black Ops, not on MW3. Those noobs have no idea what they are doing. Their "cheats" are glitching and stuff that they are banning for, and noobs who are running full detected aimbots. If you actually know how to code cheats, they don't get detected.
