Today Only! HP to provide real-time support to Snow Leopard upgraders

By | September 9, 2009, 2:44am PDT

Upgraded to Mac OS X v10.6 Snow Leopard and having problems with an HP bit of kit? Fear not, for one day only (today!) HP will be offering real-time support through the HP Support Forums for customers suffering from the Snow Leopard upgrade blues.

Here’s the deal:

From 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. PT on Sept. 9, experts from the HP Mac-connect team will monitor the HP Mac Printing & Scanning Board on the HP Support Forums to help customers enjoy full functionality of their current Mac-compatible HP peripherals. Customers who post questions on the board will receive a timely response from HP experts.

Following the real-time support hours, the HP Mac-connect team will continue to provide tips, support and advice on the HP Mac Printing & Scanning Board.

Customers can access additional information and timing regarding HP driver support for a wide range of HP product lines at www.hp.com/support and www.hp.com/go/mac.

HP has worked closely with Apple throughout the Mac OS X v10.6 Snow Leopard development process, enabling customers to enjoy built-in print driver support for more than 1,300 worldwide HP peripherals out of the box – the most ever offered by HP for a new Mac OS. In addition to print driver support, HP is providing scan support for the latest HP Inkjet All-in-Ones built into the operating system.

This is an excellent opportunity to get your Snow Leopard/HP problems sorted. Well done HP for taking a proactive approach to support - I hope to see other vendors follow suit following the release of new OSes.

It could still be more than one day

One day is kinda lame since forum help isn't always the most reliable.

I gotta say...

I gotta say that my HP all-in-one works great with Snow Leopard.

The HP software wouldn't work after the upgrade... and before it would only work on a USB connection, not over the network.

With Snow Leopard, I went to HPs website to download new software, and all they had was a nice guide up there explaining how to use it with
Snow Leopard, that all the functionality works in Apples built in programs... and it does, and it works great.... i can even scan, and fax all
wirelessly with it now to any computer, so much better than that crappy HP software they pass off as "good"

I agree, I wish more vendors would do it!
No_Ax_to_Grind 9th Sep 2009
But my thinking is most vendors not only don't care, they don't want to hear the bitching.

Wow.. I agree with No Axe...

It's the difference between customer service and
customer support... However... 1 day??? That's
it??? It's a baby step in the right direction,
but a far cry from finishing the race.

1 day only?!
matthew_maurice 9th Sep 2009
Uh, shouldn't they be doing this every day? Conversely,
does this mean on other days Mac users get "untimely
responses"?

I think it's the Real Time bit
brendan@... 9th Sep 2009
Basically it seems that the one day bit is about how HP has set up to make real time (Chat style) help available, rather than slower forum and email type help. Since real time would clearly be much more personnel intensive, it's not that unreasonable for them to limit it's availability.

Can't think of the last time I bought an HP product!
No More Microsoft Software Ever! 9th Sep 2009
Probably a printer but that has been replaced by a Kodak model (cheaper ink).

Thanks HP, but you are no help to me! Snow Leopard installed flawlessly and all peripherals and software is working like a charm!

Servers are the best product HP makes
LiquidLearner 9th Sep 2009
Proliant servers are the most reliable pieces of equipment I've ever owned or sold. They're excellent servers. Their printers aren't bad but I've stopped selling them because of HP's crazy ideas about how much volume we need to sell in order to service them. While I like their printers, on the laser side Konica Minolta is every bit as good. As far as inkjet goes, it's hard to say. Kodak's suck and their software sucks more. And while their ink may be cheaper, you only get to use about 60% of a cartrige before you have to replace it.
