UPDATE: iOS 3.2.1 for iPad also out

Summary: Along with iOS 4.0.1 for iPhone, Apple has released iOS 3.2.1 for the iPad.

Along with iOS 4.0.1 for iPhone, Apple has released iOS 3.2.1 for the iPad.

This update is a little more exciting than the iOS 4.0.1 for the iPhone in that it does more than just re-jig the signal strength bars.

Improved Wi-Fi connectivity
Fixed an issue that could prevent copy and paste of single-page PDF attachments in Mail
Addressed an issue that could cause video playback to freeze
Improved reliability of video-out when using iPad Dock Connector to VGA Adapter
Added Bing as an option for Safari’s search field

This update is compatible with both the WiFi and 3G iPad models.

[UPDATE: Not sure if this is relevant, but this update has hosed my iPad, so proceed with caution.]

If this is a diversion, then why did they also update the iPhone software today? An update, BTW, that should only shows us more accurately how poor our signal strength is.

The iPad has been out since the end of May and Apple is releasing what is basically a bug fix. Sounds right on time for a normal Apple update to a new device.

Are you just desperate to criticize, or do you actually have constructive thought capability?

I'm a Windows7, Ubuntu, Mac, and iPhone user. I search with Google, Bing, and Yahoo (rarely). Adding more options is a good thing.

I thought MS was the update guru's...Apple was so stable what is that all about? They sure did their best to dilute consumers views of MS but I keep seeing updates all over for Apple even the Ipad now what not even 2 months and there have been now how many itterations so that it "works" right? things that make you go HHHMMMMMMM. One reason I don't like "Big Brother".

It "hosed" your iPad?

The screenshot alone says millions. You're using Windows Vista/7, and that may be the first of many possibilities in why your iPad got screwed up.

Being upfront, I love my MacBook Pro. I wouldn't trade it for a PC that's twice as powerful. Snow Leopard is my favorite operating system, because it does the things I need better than Windows - that's not to say Windows is bad , just that it doesn't do what I need better than OS X. Mac fanboyism avoided, okay? Please?

From personal experience, my iPhone 3GS works better when synced with a Mac. I think Apple may intentionally mess with performance, but I wouldn't know. Just from my own experience, iTunes and related iProducts seem to harmonize better with OS X than Windows.

Windows is known to mess up iPhone/iPad software images, as was the case with my iPod touch, and my iPhone. Since getting my MacBook Pro, I haven't had any software issues. My iPad updated to 3.2.1 perfectly fine, and that may be because it was from my Mac, or that I always do a clean installation; never an update. There's something about system caches I don't trust, as is the case with OS X, Windows, and iPhone/iPod/iPad updates.
