WP7 ahead of Android and right behind iOS in customer satisfaction survey

Microsoft's Windows Phone 7 might not be making a big splash when it comes to sales, but when it comes to customer satisfaction, customers are very happy with the platform, according to ChangeWave Reasearch.

When it comes to customer satisfaction, 70% of iOS consumers are 'very satisfied' with their OS, while only 50% of Android consumers feel the same way. But when it comes to Microsoft mobile platforms, only 27% are 'very satisfied' while RIM consumers are even harder to please, with only 26% feeling 'very satisfied.'

But wait.

But in an encouraging sign for Microsoft, we continue to see a big difference between the high Very Satisfied rating for Windows Phone 7 (57%) vs. the much lower rating for Windows Mobile OS (14%). Even so, the higher Windows Phone 7 rating has yet to produce a sustained momentum boost for Microsoft in term of buyer preferences.

So if you break the mobile Windows OS score into Windows Mobile and Windows Phone 7, the scores are really interesting. Now a whopping 57% are 'very satisfied' with Windows Phone 7 compared with only 14% for Windows Mobile.

This changes things ... a lot.

This is pretty impressive. The data might be skewed because of the limited number of Windows Phone 7 users out there, but assuming that it is not then Windows Phone 7 is off to a good start in terms of customer satisfaction, and that's not a bad thing at all.
