In the continuing saga of TiVo and its quest to find new markets for its technology, it looks like Best Buy is going to include the company’s UI on a couple of upcoming Insignia HDTVs, though ironically those sets will not include DVRs. (You won’t be charged a TiVo monthly subscription, however.)

The new cTV will come in 32-inch and 42-inch screen sizes and include built-in Wi-Fi so you can access online streaming services from Netflix, Pandora, etc, as well as use the TiVo Premiere menu system. While the release date has been revealed as July 31, there’s no pricing information available on the two cTV sets. Also unknown is whether TiVo Premiere’s multiroom streaming capabilities will be included, which could make up for the lack of a built-in DVR.

What good is TiVo without a DVR? Isn't that the whole point to TiVo? Think timeshift...
It's still Insignia for Pete's sake. It's still made by Funai, TTE, or another nameless company for Best Buy. Want a good TV? Go with Samsung, Sony, or Vizio.
Really?? Vizio? Have you looked at their death rate?

@ChoMlo I don't know. I base my opinion on first-hand observations almost every day. At first I thought Vizios were crappy TVs as well, but I see more people happy with their Vizios than other, more eminent TV brands.
@statuskwo5 You base your opinions on first hand observations...every day. So you go around checking out peoples tv's and have them fill out an a questionaire? Look up some facts instead of just talking out the back of your head. People want more than 'First I thought Vizios were crappy, now people are happy'. So if you don't know where it's made it's bad?
