Sears Black Friday ad leaked: Are its HDTV deals the real deal?
Sears might not be the first name you think of when it comes to buying an HDTV, but it does offer plenty of them at its stores. Accordingly, its just-revealed Black Friday ad has a number of TV deals, though you may find yourself being less than impressed with some of the specials.
That's because you can already buy some of the sets for around the same price Sears will be offering a couple of weeks for now. For example, the LG 47-inch LED-backlit 47LV4400 is a Black Friday deal for $679.99, but you can snare it today for just $9 more at Amazon. Likewise, the Panasonic 42-inch LED TC-L42E3 will be $599.99 at Sears after Thanksgiving, but it's already $599.96 at B&H.
Even worse, Sears is being undercut by Black Friday HDTV deals from Best Buy and Walmart. Sears is advertising the 50-inch Panasonic TC-P50S30 plasma for $699.99; unfortunately Best Buy willl be selling the same set for $100 less. Less of a price gap comes with the Samsung 40-inch LN40D503 and 46-inch LN46D503 LCDs, but Walmart is still selling each for $1.99 less than Sears.
Despite an overall lack of bargains compared to the competition, you can still find a couple of good HDTV deals at Sears on Black Friday. The 51-inch 1080p Samsung PN51D530 will cost $649.99, which runs about $150 less than it's currently available for online, and the 60-inch Sharp Aquos LC60LE6300 LED (but not Quattron) set will run $999.99, compared to $1,399 at B&H currently.
The lesson, as always, for shopping for any Black Friday TV deals: Do your research before you make any purchase -- or even before you enter any store looking for a new HDTV.
