Logitech polls consumers from several nations for its Global Remote Control Trends Study, revealing its findings on the company's blog. In the past it's found that almost half of respondents have four or more remotes in their living rooms. Now Logitech has some info on where we eventually find those remotes when we inevitably misplace them.

Not surprisingly, the most common place is the good old couch: 49 percent of those surveyed found it in those cushions. More interesting is where else people located their remote, even if it's more the exception than the rule. Eight percent found it in the bathroom, while another eight percent left it in a dresser drawer.

Four percent must like their remotes chilled, as they located it in the refrigerator or the freezer. Finally, two percent wound up taking the device all the way outside or into their cars.

Where do you misplace the remote for your HDTV? Let us know in the Comments section.

I always find my remote control on the pillows, seat cushions or between the sheets...
Rarely does it get to the bathroom or the fridge!

A lot of times my remotes are lost but "lost" thanks to my 3 kids. They'll end up under the couch, behind the tv, in the Wii cupboard, the kitchen table, the kids room, and one child will hide it waaaaaay under the couch (mostly annoying but a LITTLE cute - little.

Near kid's Wii's, in their bedrooms ALWAYS with no batteries or mismatched batteries, flattened in toys etc.

I need remotes chained to the coffee table with lockable battery covers.

I haven't seen the one for the set top box for over a year, "not me" or "wasn't me" used it last according to the kids.

  • Mine was in the bath tub...

Me and my better half looked for hours and hours for the remote to our Samsung HDTV, but only realized it was in the water when my wife emptied the plastic bath tub my young daughter was playing in... talk about an expensive bath!

  • WHY?

What exactly is the need for this poll?

      @Hasam1991
I also would like this poll to be split by the screen size, the color of remote and the number of kids in the household.

  • Universal Remotes are a joke...

...just a scam. Just have all your remotes handy and ready to go. If you are too slow and confused to pick up the correct one, then you need glasses or it's time to be put down.

  • Experiment?

    FYI,
my wife's phone makes the strangest noise you have ever heard when on vibrate and left in the fridge :)

Maybe at least now there will be enough of an impetus for the next step in remote upgrading - an ability to track where it is within the house via an indication on the TV or just build in the feature that comes with some cordless phone bases and their matched handsets(at a minimum).
