As many of you will be aware, even through visiting Google's homepage this morning, today is Earth Day, designed to show appreciation for all that we have on this glorious planet.

Microsoft have recently launched Microsoft Student TV as part of their efforts towards the Student Experience. Today, an Earth Day special episode featuring a student from Brazil, highlights the efforts towards stopping or reducing deforestation in the Amazon rainforest.

It's not entirely clear what the site is for per se, but as the site dictates:

It's a web video series that seeks to ignite a global dialogue that: 1.   Connects students worldwide 2.   Inspires social responsibility 3.   Drives success at school and beyond graduation

...so even though some may appear bored by the topics included, from desertification to the conservation of natural resources, it's still good to hear students taking the time to care about these underrepresented issues.

Update: courtesy of the public relations people, not only will Microsoft Student TV be an outlet for students to share their thoughts about global initatives, it will also be a channel of which Microsoft helps students with tips and guidance for work after graduation. More will be announced later on in the year.

Maybe Microsoft are just wasting their time once again, considering the "designed for students" Channel 8 has slowly slipped to nothingness; without any updates for the last month.

Update: Video updated.
