You can have one of the most protective cars in the world, offering bomb-proof features, bullet-proof glass, reinforced tyres, its own oxygen supply, and on-board communications to rival that of the White House.

But as is usually the case, all it takes is the tiniest of things to bring down a beast.

A ramp at the US Embassy in Dublin caused the President's car to 'beach', causing the crowds waiting outside to gasp in surprise.

It is not the first time the 'Beast' has caused problems for the President. Last year, during a trip to London, the presidential car was filmed struggling to execute a three-point turn in Downing Street, home of the British Prime Minister.

The BBC reports that the President or Mrs. Obama were in the car when it became stuck, but subsequently left through another exit shortly after.

  • How would you solve Obama's car problem?

Hydraulic wheels? Better suspension? Throw in your best ideas -- see what we come up with.

    • Hydraulic lifts on each wheel

      @zwhittaker
That would let it get over lots of things. They allready do this to older GM cars in L.A. right now :)

All I can say is Ha ha ha ha. But on a serious note: it looks as if the suspension was not quite up to the task.

    You almost had it Zack.
Hydraulic Suspension like the kids use on their 'lowriders' would take care of the problem.

If the car wasn't such a land yacht it wouldn't get stuck, see the BWM goes right thought without a problem!!!

True, but I'm thinking the 'land yacht' could most likely take a hit from an anti-tank weapon and survive.
      I doubt the BMW could.
Perks of the job, regardless of who is in that seat.

Wow, did you see how thick the driver side door is when he got out? If that whole thing is inside 6" armor then it ought to have a higher clearance or at least be dynamically adjustable.

@Bookmark71 I just saw that a minute ago when watching Pres. Obama arrive on UK soil. I was honestly amazed. It's like a tank.

  • Too long and too low

at least for Dublin. I guess the person who was supposed to check EVERYTHING, simply screwed up. ;-)

Simple solution: Take a run at it. The car would simply slide over the hump and carry on. It would give everyone a thrill.

Look at the gap disappear between the top of the wheel and the wheel arch, this occurs as there is a loud metallic noise. Im betting catastrophic suspension failure.
