Just ran into Jeff Pulver at the Von show here in San Jose.

He called me aside to tell me what he is going to talk about during his presentation Tuesday morning.

Jeff tells me he will:

Call for the "IP" to be dropped from the term VoIP. He views the IP as being taken for granted, and thus, superfluous at this point.

Jeff told me he will also call for the overturning of the patents Verizon is using as ammunition for their suit against Vonage.

Other juicy tidbits:

Jeff will announce the creation of the Video on the Net Alliance- Internet video content providers, third-party services, carriers and pipelines.

He's also planning to file a petition with the FCC related to video on the Internet technology. More about this tomorrow.

Oh, one more thing: a $40,000 contest for user-generated Internet video content.

Get ready for some more news tomorrow.

  • Not intelligent

Jeff seems to be coming out with more and more unusual and unprofessional comments lately.

He'd have to change VON also. What's he going to call it? VO ?

Not an intelligent remark. There are more important things to worry about than name. The consumer doesn't care what the underlying technology is, but the networks need to know.

    That horse bolted ages ago.

For the first day of a multi-tracked show, those are some things I missed, thank you Russell.

I'll look forward to details about the user-generated video contest. I found the Blip.tv/Veoh/ROO discussion interesting, did you happen to catch it?
