Wes Leopold, who reads this blog regularly just filed an interesting comment.

"I just got off the phone with an ATT Rep who said that there are no rebates for the 2 year agreement towards the phone. He said that Apple has released information on a NEW IPhone that will be 3G and 12gig with new features that will launch in 6 Months," Wes writes.

"So for those of you who can wait, in 6 months you can get a killer IPhone or get a used 8gig/4gig from someone selling there old one to get the new one," he adds. "I think I am going to wait, six months is not that long..

  • HAHA

Raise your hand if you're surprised so we know who you are! That's called business. Everyone wants the first one till the next gen comes out, those are called people on the cutting, bleeding, edge. My phone works just fine right now, and until it doesnt, it isnt going anywhere. iPhone is crap in my opinion, anyone who wants what that phone can do are looking at payments as high as 150 to 200 a month. I'll live just fine and be able to sleep even better knowing I dont have the iPhone.

  • Total BS

This is total BS and you should be admonished for spreading this lie. No one
outside of Apple knows what is in store for the next iPhone - let alone an AT&T
rep. I can't believe you reported this. Do some actual reporting. There are
rumors and there are lies - this is a lie.

    • reporting?

Surely you jest... blogs are reporting? Maybe legally they have that cloak, but the reality is this is gossip time....

    • I called the 800 Number on ATT website

I called the 800 on ATT's website, I am wanting to get an IPhone and was asking the rep for an estimate on how much everything would cost and he blatantly told me to hold off on getting an IPhone that they have sales sheets for pricing on the 12Ggig/3G Phone due at Christmas. He said that people who bought one now would get no upgrade pricing for the new one. I would recommend that anyone call the 800 Number on ATT website and ask the reps about IPhones and see if anyone else gets the same response. Everyone post back here if you get the same response.

      • Unlikely

No way Apple would release such info. Heck they managed to keep the thing a secret from even the head at Cingular/ATT for years, why would they have a data sheet for an updated iPhone going around before this iPhone is even released? I call bull!

To all those who said HAHA and BS looks like the AT&T Rep told me the straight truth. Not only did the price drop drastically after 3 months but also apple is getting ready to launch the new Iphone version 2 so for those of you who said BS and paid the FULL price, here laughing at you!
