IDC data shows Americans spending $340 bln annually on credit cards in 2004. Visa and American Express led the market in 2004 with 40% and 36.4% market share, respectively. By 2009, Americans will spend $996 bln with credit cards, with Visa owning 48.4% of the market and MasterCard becoming #2 with 26.3%.
