Perhaps I am an atypical Windows user. I have been in the New York Apple SoHo store once. My mission: To see the famed glass staircase. It's not that I hate Macs. I just am accustomed to Windows.

Maybe Apple thinks there's a large pool of switchers among iPod users who visit Apple's retail chains? Or might it be that Apple execs believe there's a huge, untapped market of first-time computer buyers who need some in-store persuading to convince them of the folly of their Windows-leaning ways?
