The LiveSide.net guys are wondering aloud whether Microsoft might pull a Hotmail and revert to a previous product name for Windows Live Folders.

Windows Live Folders is a file-storage service. Microsoft commenced limited beta testing of Windows Live Folders in late June, after years of hinting that it was set to launch such a service.

Windows Live Folders was originally codenamed "SkyDrive." Might Microsoft dump the boring Windows Live Folders beta name and roll out the final version of the cloud-storage service under the "SkyDrive" brand?

Such a move wouldn't be completely unprecedented. Hotmail became Windows Live Mail, only to revert back to Windows Live Hotmail.

The Live team needs all the branding help it can get.
