At the end of the day on April 16, Microsoft officials said Office 2010 and SharePoint 2010 were released today to manufacturing.

According to the company, more than 7.5 million people have downloaded the beta of the "2010 set of products" for the PC, mobile phone and browser. That's more than three times the number of individuals who tested Office 2007, company officials said in a post to the Office 2010 Engineering blog.

MSDN and TechNet subscribers will be able to download the final bits starting April 22, company officials said.

Volume licensees with Software Assurance for these products will be able to download them in English from the Volume Licensing Service Center on April 27. Customers without SA will be able to get these products through the VLSC starting May 1.

The launch of Office 2010 is on May 12 in New York City. Virtual launch events also kick off that day. Office 2010 will be available in retail stores in June in the U.S.

  • Already listed on Amazon.com...

I see MS Office 2010 is already listed on Amazon.com for preordering.

I wish I could buy the Home & Business version for the Home & Student price. (grin)

(I'm too attached to Outlook to buy the Home & Student version.)

After training new users to office 2007 most of them when I speek to them a few months later either say it's better or they don't know why they complained in the first place.

Of course there are the few that still don't like it but they are rare.

That's always a pain for IT admins
like me who have to end up either convincing management
to fork over the big cash (assuming SA wasn't purchased)
or install viewers on everyone's workstations.

It looks like Microsoft is going to continue to roll out, one by one, the names of Android OEMs which have agreed to sign patent-protection deals with the company.

I'll take software for the last millennium over software
for serial killers any day. Can you confirm how many
convicted murders worked on Office 2010?

  • MCSE's working the weekend....

My rep delivered the bits this morning in typical fashion. A limo pulled up outside of our of building and my rep, under heavy security delivered a "gold plated" DVD. I accepted the DVD and issued the order to "deploy and deploy without prejudice". I then suspended all weekend activities and mandated all MCSE's come to work and create System Center packages for deployment. When our inhouse ITIL consultant asked me about testing, I told him to know his role. Do not fear though, I did give the lead MCSE permission to expense pizza for all, limit 2 slices per person.

    • Hi, DonnieBoy!

We see how you deploy software now, even though you seem to change names from time to time.

Just give it a few more years, you'll see how grown ups do deploy software.

As I said...sounds like DonnieBoy to me. (Except he didn't work "baroque" or "8.5 x 11" in to his post. Hmmmmmm.)

          • Nope

I thought it odd too, Mike Cox used to be a regular around here, now you rarely see him.

          • DB doesn't have that sharp a sense of humor

nor does he know enough about Windows (or IT) to be able to throw the jargon around as easilly as Mike Cox does.

No, I've read DonnieBoy, and he sir, is No MIke Cox :)
