More Microsoft codenames than you can shake a stick at

By | September 2, 2010, 8:40am PDT

Summary: This month’s version of my Microsoft Codename Tracker includes a number of brand-new entries in the high-end server space — including MFx, Dryad, Nectar, Orleans, Quincy and TidyFS — plus lots, lots more.

The latest update to my Microsoft Codename Tracker chart is done and ready for download.

This PDF is the same chart I use myself to keep up with the many, morphing codenames of products and technologies coming from Microsoft. The tracker is free and downloadable from the ZDNet site. If you’ve already registered on ZDNet, just grab it. If you haven’t, registration info will be requested before you download it. Whether you’re a Microsoft customer, partner, analyst, competitor (or even employee), you might find it useful.

This month’s version includes a number of brand-new entries in the high-end server space — including MFx, Dryad, Nectar, Orleans, Quincy and TidyFS. There are also updates throughout on Microsoft’s various consumer-focused products and projects, too.

If there’s a codename missing from my chart that you’d like me to check out and ultimately add, please don’t hesitate to contact me via e-mail. All e-mails I receive are treated as confidential — unless you want a mention/credit line, of course.

Meanwhile, if you’d like to get posts from “All About Microsoft” in e-mail form (hourly, daily or weekly), you can subscribe here. And if you are all about Twitter, you can follow me there, as well.

@rebarakaz These are the comparisons that have been going on for nearly 2 years now (since the Diamond came out). iPhone 4 isn't out yet so it isn't relevant. Besides, while it might be a tiny sliver thinner, it still takes up far more room in the pocket. Try fitting an 8.5X11 piece of paper in your pocket without folding it. You can't do it even though the paper is thin, thin, thin!

I'm LAUGHING at the stupidity of an iPhone owner calling anything else a brick considering that the iPhone isn't a small phone either. Like I said, it's all relative and you would have realized that if your vision weren't so impaired from Apple's RDF. iPhone is a brick. Deal with it. friv yeni oyunlar oyunlar kral oyun

  • Any thoughts on LightSwitch?
I've brushed through the LightSwitch development center on MSDN and it looks to be a very interesting business application framework similar but seemingly superior to the Mongoose framework that Infor uses.

The same advertisers that brought us Seinfeld (lets play footsie and wiggle our shorts Bill), Laptop Hunters (that got all sorts of bad press for lies (incorrect pricing and customer never actually went into an Apple store) and portraying windows as "cheep"), And Windows 7 was Macs idea (where a college kid who can't get laid and get kicked out of his dorm room (by his Mac roommate) has to watch TV in the hall because he doesn't even have a friend whom he could visit).

IE8 had multi-process architecture before Chrome launched, and in fact sohbet was the first browser to announce the feature. gay sohbet That's why both Chrome and IE use far more memory than the other browsers. mynet sohbet Chrome is a bit more strict than IE, IE will allow tabs with the same integrety level to mynet sohbet share a single process. mynet mynet sohbet Outside of that MS beat Google to the punch. mynet Good try though. indirmeden film izle If MS came out with touch UIs for at least Word, Excel, forum OneNote, and Outlook, with super slick, and highly youtube effective integrated virtual keyboards, that would be mind blowing!
