The QWERTY keyboard wasn't designed for mobile devices

The QWERTY keyboard keeps getting used by manufacturers on mobile devices and I think it is high time that someone step forward and evaluate whether that is really the best alternative. While thumb keyboard adoption is still fairly young in today's world, let's see a unique solution that helps people enter text faster and more accurately.

RIM BlackBerry holding off competitors

2006 is turning into the year of the QWERTY keyboard, but so far RIM seems to be holding its own as Microsoft, Palm, Nokia, Motorola, and others attempt to take a bite out of the BlackBerry market. It may be too early to make these statements though as many of these devices are just now rolling out and I am sure the competition will heat up in late 2006 and early 2007.

MobileTechRoundup show #68

Lots of new announcements were made at CTIA last week and the MobileTechRoundup gang took some time to chat and provide opinions about these new devices. Apple and Microsoft also announced some new mobile entertainment gear and software that has us thinking about Christmas gifts for ourselves this year.

Microsoft Zune officially revealed

The Zune will come in three colors (brown, black, and white) to start off with and includes a large 3 inch display, integrated WiFi, and FM tuner. The first device should be available in the next couple months and has me convinced what my next portable media player will be, how about you?

Nokia N91 captures ride video at the fair

As the summer ends and school starts, people in Western Washington head to the grand old Puyallup Fair. I took along a Nokia N91 and captured a couple videos of rides that are favorites of the thrill seekers. Enjoy traveling on a 1935 era wooden coaster and up and down 20 stories of the Extreme Scream.
