Barnes & Noble kicks off Fun and Free eBook summer promotion

Barnes & Noble kicked off a promotion today to give you five free ebooks over the next five weeks. You can read these books on a number of mobile devices too.

My preferred ebook read is the B&N Nook and so I was pleased to hear of a summer promotion from Barnes & Noble. Over the next five weeks they will be giving you five free ebooks from bestselling authors as part of their Fun and Free eBook promotion. You will need a Nook, iPhone/iPod Touch, HTC HD2, or other supported device with their BN eReader software on it to read the books. The announcement for this special promotion also stated that an iPad-optimized version of the BN eReader software is scheduled for release in May.

The promotion begins today and you simply visit the promotion site, enter the access code at www.bn.com/redeem (obtained on your Nook while in a physical Barnes & Noble store), download the free ebook to your library, and enjoy on your devices. The five free titles that you will be able to download are:

  1. The No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency by Alexander McCall Smith (first week's free title)
  2. The Long Tail by Chris Anderson
  3. Home Safe by Elizabeth Berg
  4. Storm Front by Jim Butcher
  5. One Shot by Lee Childs

Remember that this is an in-store promotion, so you need to go into a B&N store and show your Nook or BN eReader on a device to get the access code.  The bookseller will help you download the free BN eReader on your device to receive a free eBook if you don't have the software loaded on your device. It is always great to get some free ebook content so I plan to get these books and check them out.
