BlackBerry Kickstart specs appear on Expansys retailer site

Back in April, the Boy Genius Report unveiled the BlackBerry Kickstart that still has not yet been officially announced by RIM. The Kickstart is unusual due to the clamshell flip form factor that is popular with American consumers. Phonescoop discovered that international retailer and importer, Expansys, has posted all the specifications on the BlackBerry 8220 (aka Kickstart). There is no pricing or availability information yet posted.

The BlackBerry 8220 bottom part looks like a Pearl with the SureType keyboard and trackball layout. The device should also have a 2 megapixel camera, microSD card slot, and WiFi or GPS (depending on the carrier). A 3.5mm headset jack and microUSB port are also included on the device. The battery is rated at 900 mAh and the total weight of the device is listed as 101.2 grams (3.6 ounces).

The specifications also show that this device is running BlackBerry OS 4.6 so you will get video recording capability and a more powerful web browser in the device. The main display is 240x320 pixels and 2.6 inches while the secondary outside display is 160x128 pixels. It seems you will be able to use the external display to preview messages and view other notifications without opening the flip top.
