CES 2010 wrapup from a mobile perspective
If you are ever planning to attend CES, make sure to wear comfortable shoes and be prepared for lots of walking. I had several meetings and other events that happened to be in the hotel I was staying at so my pedometer count was lower than usual. Here are the results recorded by my new iPod nano for the four days I was in Vegas:
- Tuesday, 5 January 3,768 steps
- Wednesday, 6 January 2,311 steps
- Thursday, 7 January 12,321 steps
- Friday, 8 January 8,437 steps
I have pretty long legs with a conservative stride length of 30 inches (probably more like 36 inches) so this translates into approximately 1.8 miles to 5.8 miles per day. I have had days up to 7 miles in the past so this was a pretty light walking event this year.
I made several posts related to phones on my Smartphones & Cell Phones blog:
- RIM announces the BlackBerry Presenter
- Manage your Chevy Volt with your iPhone
- FLO TV is coming to the iPhone
- Motorola announced the BACKFLIP and Android 2.x updates
- HTC HD2 is coming to T-Mobile this spring
- HTC announced the Smart lower end phone
- Palm announces the Pre Plus and Pixi Plus on Verizon
- Hands-on with the ELSE ALP smartphone
I also made a few posts here on The Mobile Gadgeteer:
- Wrap-up of CES Unveiled
- Mobile products at Digital Experience
- Sprint Overdrive 4G hotspot announced
- QUE proReader is an excellent enterprise device
- Mobile products at Showstoppers
- My nook still beats all the ebook readers at CES
I have several photos of gadgets in this image gallery. I also took the shot below with a Nokia N86 as I was in the shuttle line leaving Las Vegas. As you can see, my two favorite T-Mobile devices are in hand, the Nokia N900 and Google Nexus One. I was asked by Jenna Gonzalez, from My Reality Tech to take a photo of me at the show and give her a shout out. My Reality Tech is a new website focused on providing real everyday people's perspective on real everyday technology and I recommend you check it out.
While 3D television was a popular topic, it isn't related to the mobile world I cover so I didn't really spend any time checking them out. Ebook readers and mobile phone accessories were a hit. One of my favorite devices at CES was the Lenovo U1 hybrid tablet device that may find its way into my collection if the price is right.
