Download media to your iPhone straight from the web with iDownloader

By | January 27, 2012, 8:59am PST

Summary: iDownloader is an app that lets you download videos, music, photos, documents, and more, and store them and view them directly on your iPhone.

Back in November a video surfaced by CollegeHumor.com that had Siri as the go-between in a couple’s argument. If you haven’t seen it yet, I’ve embedded it at the end of this article. It’s by far one of the best videos out there. The reason I bring it up, though, is that it was one of those videos that I wanted to show everyone. The problem was that I could stream it from CollegeHumor, but what if I had a bad connection and couldn’t stream? That’s when I remembered iDownloader.

iDownloader is an app that lets you download videos, music, photos, documents, and more, and store them and view them directly on your iPhone. The interface is pretty straight forward, too, so you can browse to a webpage, using the built-in browser, and then when you want to download the media, you just tap and hold and a link to download the file appears.

In my tests I’ve used it to pull videos, as I mentioned above, and also other types of media, including zipped files, that the app will automatically unzip and then allow you to view or play.

The creators of the app have made it pretty seamless to use, including the ability to add more files to the downloading files list, while you continue browsing.

The app even features a startup page, that features a FAQ that will get you started. FAQs include how to download a file or video, and even how to create a ringtone from something you grabbed on the web.

If you have a need to download media and view it directly on your iPhone, take a look at iDownloader.
