By | September 11, 2008, 1:40pm PDT

Summary: I posted the news about the new Zune 3.0 software the other day, but if you want to learn all the details of the new Zune hardware, accessories, and Zune 3.0 update coming to you next week then check out Jason Dunn’s detailed 6-page writeup on his recent visit to Zune HQ in Redmond.

Everything you want to know about the Zune 3.0 release and new hardwareI posted the news about the new Zune 3.0 software the other day, but if you want to learn all the details of the new Zune hardware, accessories, and Zune 3.0 update coming to you next week then check out Jason Dunn’s detailed 6-page writeup on his recent visit to Zune HQ in Redmond.

Jason covers the desktop software (Channels seem cool), the social improvements, firmware updates, how to search with the on-device text selection mechanism, games, accessories, and audiobooks.

Like Jason states in his conclusion, I too would like to see a widescreen, high resolution Zune designed for video consumption. I am pleased with the WiFi improvements and may just have to subscribe to the Zune Pass again. I have already charged up my Zune 4GB as I get ready to hit the jogging trail again and get back into some semblance of shape before the winter months set in.

If any are provided as “keeper” or “long term loaner units” this will be clearly disclosed in his reviews.

and some people just cant see the obvious. Its almost ironic, given the converse is every bit as true in the computer world, when Apple comes out with a new OS, then compare it to the blogs on a new MS OS. With the Apple, nobody cares, NOBODY.

That's all I need to learn "Everything want to know about the Zune 3.0 release and new hardware"? Either there's not much to write about, or the author assumes I don't want to know much.

Carn ZDNet, surely your articles can have some meaningful content?

It says Zune in the article title, which makes you either an idiot or a tool for not only clicking on it, but commenting on it.
I did'nt see anything that is really new. Its more of just a lure to get you into their site. I own a Zune and thought the software totally sucked and now I have a Nano and a black Zune dust collector.

Microsoft has talent and money and can do anything they want to do. I am steaming because if they wanted to they could make this the most kick ass media player on the market. I currently am using YP P2 from Samsung - http://reviews.cnet.com/mp3-players/samsung-yp-p2-8gb/4505-6490_7-32588459.html

This is a touch screen device with a sleek sexy look and a boat load of features. Touch screen UI. Video, Music, Pictures, book reader (text), Text to speech (outputs to MP3), FM radio with auto preset and record to MP3. Voice recorder to MP3. World clock, talking dictionary, Blue tooth so can make calls through the device if your phone is near. Bluetooth stereo headset, Wireless file transfers from one device to another, Etc. Etc. etc.

I want Microsoft to make a device better than this one and they can do it if they get off their #%* and try. The Zune is fine and it works and all that but it is ugly. It's the Yugo of the gadget world and it needs not just an update but a complete redesign.

Why not copy all the features of iPod touch and Yp 2p and maybe something revolutionary like taking two iPod touches's and clam shelling them together into a supper slim sleek clamshell design. Sky's the limit and Microsoft is not even close. That's why we think this is boring.

Sorry folks I wish I could get more excited.
