Back in March GotVoice rolled out a major update to their voicemail management system (see my coverage and image gallery) and this week they announced a couple of advanced features to the system. One feature that Apple has been promoting on its iPhone is visual voicemail. GotVoice now has that available so users with any compatible phone can get GotVoice Visual Voicemail by simple logging into the GotVoice mobile site, http://m.gotvoice.com from their mobile web browser. GotVoice also announced Mobile Compose so you can send a message to your group right from your mobile phone.
Traditional voice mail is a pain since you have to go through and at least listen to part of each message to see who sent it, the subject, and the content. GotVoice Visual Voicemail now lets you "see" your voice mail and choose which ones to listen to. They also stated this could be good for driving directions or shopping list voicemails that you may want to play over and over at different time periods. This is a free feature to the GotVoice service, even at the free account level.
One cool feature I talked about back in March was the ability to send out a message to a group of people and I thought this would be perfect for my softball team in case there was a rainout or other schedule change. The thing is that I was required to login and send these messages out from a PC so I either had to send the message from work or home or else login on the road with a PC tethered to a phone or wireless data card. GotVoice just launched Mobile Compose, which lets you get the message out from your mobile device. You simply dial a single phone number, record your message, and then out it goes to your entire group. I think I'll be using this as soccer season gets ready to kick off.
